The security and permissions settings on Vista can cause problems when attempting to add picture to TheRecipeManager. There are two seperate settings that can prevent pictures being added. If neither of these work, you should also check to see if you have User Access Control switched on.
The Read-Only Attribute on the General Tab
The first to check if you can't add a picture to the Photo Tab is if the Read-Only attribute has been set on the picture file. To do this you need to Right + Click on the picture file and then select Properties from the resultant context menu.
Then on the General tab check to see if the Read-only attribute box is ticked. If it is then you need to click it to remove the Read-only attribute from the picture file. Once you have done this select the Apply button and the the OK button to close the window. Now try to add the picture again.
Groups or User access on the Security Tab
If you still can't add the picture then it is likely that another Vista security setting is preventing you from adding the picture. Again you need to Right + Click on the picture file and select Properties from the resultant context menu. Then select the Security tab. On the Security tab select the Edit button.
You will now see a tab pane which shows a list titled Group or user names. This may contain one entry such as SYSTEM and no more entries. If this is the case then you will need to create a user for the picture. To do this press the Add... button. This will open the <>bSelect Users or Groups window.
In the field titled Enter the Object names to select (examples): type in the word Users and then press the OK button.
You will then be taken back to the Security tab and will notice that a new entry has been added to the Group or user names list, which begins with Users. Press the OK button and you will then be taken back to the main Properties window. Then press the OK button again.
If you then look at the picture on the Desktop or where ever you have saved you will notice a little user graphic has been appended to the bottom left corner. You can now try and add the picture to TheRecipeManager.
