When updating or upgrading, we always recommend that you make a backup of your cookbook (datafile). We also recommend creating a backup when you are about to import a large amount of recipes. This is quick and easy to do, and probably worth doing every so often. When using this command you are able to backup directly to a flash drive. If you wish to backup to a CD/DVD then you will need to create the backup on your Desktop and then burn it to a CD/DVD from there.

From the 'File' menu, select the 'Back Up My Data...' option.

You will then be presented with the 'Save a backup copy of your data ' window. This allows you to navigate to where you wish to save the backup file to. When you have selected the appropriate location, click on the 'Save' button, and a dated backup file will be created.

You will notice a progress window which details the cookbook currently being backed up.

Once the process is complete a dialog window will detail where your backup has been saved to.

The backup will be saved in a folder which contains the common information datafile (CommonInfo.dnd) and copies of all of your cookbooks.
