TheRecipeManager enables you to scale your recipes. The scaling feature works by scaling recipes up to 4 times and down to 1/4 of the size of the original recipe. This may vary slightly on some recipes with values being rounded up or down. These limits have been set as they are the maximums recommended by most professional chefs. This is because not all recipes scale in a linear fashion no matter what you do. A lot of chefs recommend that you make two batches rather than double a recipe.
When you modify your recipes, you will see a Scale to Serve drop list on the Serves/Time tab, if the Serves field is not empty. This gives you options on the scaling factor that you can apply to your recipe. Select the number of servings you wish to scale the recipe to, and the ingredients will be scaled accordingly. Then select the √ 'save' button to save the scaled recipe.
When you save the recipe the ingredient quanities will be saved to the new scaled values. The quantities will be highlighted in red and the new scaled size will be highlighted on the Serves/Time tab. This allows you to revert to the original scaling size at any time. You can then send your scaled recipe to the shopping list.
