The RecipeManager allows you to import recipes in a number of different formats. However, if you have a recipe that does not match these formats, you can use the Manual Recipe Import window. To launch this you should first copy the recipe that you wish to import onto the clipboard.

So to start with highlight the text of the recipe from either a website or a text document and use 'Command + C' to copy it to the clipboard. Then, from TheRecipeManager 'File' menu, move down to the 'Import' option. This will then provide you with three choices. Select 'Recipe(s) on Clipboard'.

You will then be prompted to select the cookbook you wish to import the recipe into. Once you have chosen the cookbook select the √ save button.

This will launch the Manual Recipe Import window. You will see all the details of the recipe that you have just imported in the main frame of the window. On the right hand side are a number of labeled dividers. These dividers are used to highlight which part of the recipe goes into which field of TheRecipeManager.

To use these, click on 'Recipe Name' and then drag and drop it above the name of the recipe. You can now continue to drop the dividers above the appropriate sections.

You can edit any of the text by clicking on it when it is highlighted. You can then click into the text and make changes. The manual import window also has a context menu that allows you to move, delete and combine the recipe text.

Once you are happy that you have everything divided up correctly, press the 'Continue...' button to move the to next screen.

The next screen lets you specify the recipe's origin, category and type using drop lists. This screen also lets you correct any problems with the ingredient list.

Look at the ingredients list and check that the quantity, measure and ingredient are all in the correct columns. To correct them, highlight the ingredient line and then use the sliders at the bottom of the window to position the items correctly. As you move the sliders you will notice that the color of the text changes. Red text will be added to the Quantity field, green text to the Measure field and blue text to the Ingredient field.

Once you are happy with the way that the ingredient list is formatted, select the 'Finish' button to import the recipe.

Once imported the recipe will be highlighted as with any recipe import. You can then modify it further if you wish. The manual recipe import will only import one recipe at a time and is not intended for importing hundreds of recipes in one go.
